Antique American Coin Silver Handled Tumbler.The piece bears the mark of philadelphia silversmith J.S.Painter who worked in the Philadelphia in the 1830s and 40s.This piece appears earlier perhaps 1790--1815.Painter's hallmark appears  over a earlier unidentified mark.I feel this piece originally was a tumbler and Painter added a handle turning  the tumbler into a cup.The are 4 sets of engraved initials as pictured.I believe the initials on the anterior surface of the cup were engraved when the piece was first made.The handle and additional initials and the date of 1912 were added later.A small 5/8"dent present is pictured.
