Description
This is a beautiful coin silver ladle by Charles A. Burnett, who lived 1769-1849. He was a successful silversmith and businessman who worked in Fredericksburg Virginia, Alexandria VA, and Georgetown DC. This ladle in the fiddle shell pattern is 10”
long and weighs 2.65 troy ounces. It is in good antique condition, with only a light patina of scratches from previous use, and an very small shallow dent in the bowl. It has a mono of SMP. The shape and size of the bowl makes me think this is a type of toddy ladle.
There is quite a write up about Burnett in Catherine Hollan
