Antique J.B. JONES Coin Silver Mint Julep Cup JAMES HERRESHOFF Boston HISTORICAL

Description

This is a very nice history piece of coin silver. Hallmarked underneath J.B. Jones. Measures 3-1/8" in diameter and 3-1/2" in height. Weighs 5.104 troy oz.
Front is presentation inscribed "Tribute to Merit From the Assurers and Owners of Ship Champion & Cargo to Capt. Joseph W. Lewis Boston MDCCCXXII." Verso is inscribed "James Brown Herreshoff From his Aunt. Caroline L. Lewis."
These are significant names in history. James Herreshoff was an American inventor and known for inventing the coil boiler. An entire family history identifying each name on this cup can be read on this link below:

This cup is in excellent condition for its age: has one very slight pinpoint dent, minor scuffs, and normal wear. Please refer to photos for condition.
