    Description

Coin Silver Bird Back (2) Teaspoons - Joseph Shoemaker - Philadelphia 1785-1829
A matched pair of coin silver teaspoons, with bird back decoration (the bird impression is worn, however it is the full spread wing version). The spoons measure approximately 5 1/2 inches in length.
The makers mark is “J.SHOEMAKER” for Joseph Shoemaker, a well known Philadelphia silversmith.
He worked in 1785-1829 as a silversmith in Philadelphia PA
Overall condition is good, although one spoon does have a small crack in the left hand edge of the bowl. Still, this pair is a good example of Shoemaker’s work. Matched pairs of bird back spoons are challenging to find as well.
