    Description

    Up for bid is a coin silver turn-handle master butter knife in the EMPRESS pattern by Coles & Reynolds, introduced around 1870.  The piece is 7 3/4 inches long and weighs 49 grams.  The blade has an unusually shaped edge as shown.  A monogram was removed from the handle front. The piece is marked by the retailer “J.H. HELLER & SON” on the blade as shown.


    Condition on the knife is fair.  There is a shallow divot on the handle where a monogram was removed some time agao, but otherwise there is just a slight blunting of the blade tips and normal signs of use.  Still a nice serving piece in a great old pattern!
