This listing is for a beautiful 19th Century antique American Coin Silver engraved soup ladle in its original fitted box with fancy 3-letter monogram "M S P".
This lovely ladle is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no significant dents or dings reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. There is a very faint no-harm impression in the center on the back of the ladle's bowl that is hardly noticeable on the front/top side.
Both the handle and the bowl are decorated with an engraved "Brite-Cut" design with initials "M S P" near the top of the handle. This is an elaborately decorated ladle for the coin silver period as most of the pieces from this period had a very simple design.
This soup ladle was probably a commissioned piece for some prominent family as the ladle comes in a fitted velvet and satin lined case with an embossed decorated top. The case reflects wear as expected with age and normal use. The top and bottom back side of the case is not attached so the case will not stay closed, however, there is no sign of damage in this area. Case is included "as found".
Measures 11 3/4" long with the bowl being 2 3/4" wide. Weighs 115 grams.
