Description
For sale is an unusual fancy pattern coin silver sugar tongs by Joseph S. Porter of Utica, New York, circa 1815. The spoon is piece is 6 5/8 inches long and weighs 31 grams. It has oval grips, no shoulders and tapered arms with little wings near the bend. The arms and bend are convex in form. The piece is monogrammed “EB” at the bend. The piece is marked [I.S. Porter] in a conforming rectangle inside one arm and [UTICA] inside the other.
Condition on the tongs is fairly good. They are slightly
distorted and there are normal signs of use.
It has not been buffed. A nice old coin tongs!
